Penance/Eucharist Formation Sessions
For Parents & Children 2022-23
Each session is designed for both candidates and parents.
As our Faith Formation Ministry staff anticipates our new sacrament formation year, we welcome you! Thank you for completing the registration process. The dates for the upcoming sessions are included here. Please mark your calendar now so that you will plan for, and enjoy, this special time with your child.
September 2022
Each child will receive a Reconciliation workbook and materials for families celebrating First Eucharist. These will be given to youth in their daily or weekly session. Homework is assigned from the Reconciliation book, 2nd – 3rd grades, chapters 1-3, 4th – 8th grades, and chapters 1-4, to be completed before the first session, October 9. Details will be included in your materials.

Session 1 - Belonging/Baptism/Penance
Homework is due from the Reconciliation book. Please complete chapters 1-3 (2nd-3rd) or chapters 1-4 (4th-8th) with your child.
Sunday, December 4, 12:30-2:30pm
Session 2 – How to Celebrate the Sacrament of Penance
Homework is due from the Reconciliation book. Please complete chapters 4-6 (2nd-3rd) or chapters 5-8 (4th-8th) with your child. Eucharist dates will be distributed and Mass selection forms will be handed out. Mass assignments will be emailed to families by the end of December.
First Penance Celebration, Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 9:30 am
Children will celebrate First Penance at the 9:30 liturgy.
Sunday, February 26, 12:30-2:30pm
Session 3 – Eucharist formation
Children and their parents will continue formation for the celebration of First Eucharist.
Sunday, March 26, 12:30-2:30pm
Session 4 – Eucharist – Bread Sunday
Parents and children will participate in a bread-breaking and blessing ceremony. We gather together this day and truly break bread together.
Sunday, April 23, 12:30-2:30pm
Session 5 – Group photo and rehearsal
Parents and children gather in this final session, small break-out sessions and rehearsal. Children will participate in an all-parish group photo.
